Practical solution for growing plants and vegetables on the roof

It's been quite a few months since I started extensive research about roof gardens. They bring a lot of advantages, both visually and practically. As being energy efficient (heat/cold insulation), they can be quite useful especially if they include vegetables and fruits.

One thing for certain, this was not going to be an easy task. There are structural considerations to take care of and the initial investment can become quite expensive. Therefore I decided that in order to have a roof garden I had to settle for something in between a proper roof garden and small pots.

The Christmas log experiment

Two weeks ago I was randomly surfing some personal blogs just to pass the time, as well as spy a bit on other people's lives. The one that caught my attention had a very simple recipe for a Christmas log. I studied the instructions to make sure I was not aiming too high for my cooking skills.

Back home surprise!

Coming back home from work is my favourite time of the day, especially when I know that I will find a beautiful smiling face waiting for me behind the door. As soon as my wife hears the door opening, she comes quickly to welcome me back home with a tight hug and a kiss.

After the break

It's cold, it's humid and I do not enjoy being sick. Yes, this morning I woke up barely breathing. Nose felt like someone filled it with concrete which dried during the night and my throat feels like it is covered in mud in the middle of the desert under a scorching sun.

After the break from work which I had to take due to uncontrollable issues of life (I might dedicated a post about it in the future), I was slowly getting back into my work routine.

We need gas, pronto!

During the warm months, we use two LPG gas cylinders rotated every two to three months to service our cooking requirements. We have a third one which is stored empty in the garage. This will come into use in the cold Winter months when we start using the gas heater.

We were already running on the spare one which would finish very soon, so the logical step was to replace the two empty ones as soon as possible. The gas heater was already standing by with a new replaced gas pipe and regulator for safety reasons.

Sliema adventure by bus

A random thought passed through my mind. I mentioned a trip to Sliema by bus to my wife and she was delighted. It's been long since we went out. She had also mentioned that she would like to find a nice warm fleece top. This was great as it seems I had managed to kill two birds with one stone.

As it was raining quite heavily we decided it is best to take an umbrella. The main reason was that the "Punika" bus shelter in main road Fgura has mysteriously disappeared.

Well deserved punishment

As those who read my post about my dilemma know, I am trying to learn to play "Silent Night" on the piano. I have to confess that I did not really practice since then and my piano teacher (a.k.a. my wife) is not happy at all, even though she was the one keeping me busy with errands. I guess that still, it is not an excuse, so I promise that I will do my best.

I thought everything was forgiven and forgotten. I was so wrong. We have a couple of friends who visit quite regularly now as their children are learning to play the piano as well. After the lesson we spend some more time together discussing various things over a cup of coffee.
